This bride’s family property was the ideal setting for a backyard wedding, with gorgeous landscaping and plenty of space for a sailcloth tent. Catie and Gabriel had to postpone their I do’s three times due to the pandemic but remained gracious through it all. They trusted us to turn their vision into reality despite the delays, and we felt so gratified to finally present them with a beautiful, stress-free wedding day!

Getting Ready for a Backyard Wedding

As their special day arrived at last, the couple got ready separately, accompanied by their parents. Gabriel is Brazilian and Catie’s family has Russian roots, so the day had a lovely multicultural element. In keeping with Russian tradition, Catie wore her grandmother’s wedding crown. Crafted from ivory tulle and studded with pearls, it was a regal complement to her classic cap-sleeve gown.

The couple met for a first look at the entrance to the stable. Then, as their guests began gathering in the garden, they snuck into the trees for a few portraits with Corey Garland. Throughout the day the beauty of this property continually amazed us, and it’s remarkable to think that the couple’s portraits weren’t taken at a “real” wedding venue! We always encourage our clients to consider a backyard wedding. With the right amount of preparation and space, you can enjoy all the luxuries of a traditional venue without sacrificing the comforts of home.

Details from a Garden Party-Inspired Reception

Sailcloth tents are one of our design specialties, and our favorite way to elevate a backyard space. For Catie and Gabriel, we wanted to evoke a classic garden party with a color palette of ivory and blush. Showcase Events provided furniture rentals which we draped with ivory linens from BBJ La Tavola. Blush napkins, gold cutlery, greenery, and ivory florals formed each tablescape for a look that was classically bridal. In addition, each table was named after one of the couple’s favorite musical genres for a fun twist!

The couple and their guests enjoyed farm-to-table cuisine from Susanna’s and the sounds of Silver Arrow Band as the evening got underway. Just as the sun began to set, the couple stole away for a few more portraits in the golden light. 

This day was one of pure joy as Catie and Gabriel finally celebrated their commitment to one another, and we were so glad to be a part of it!
