Emily and Joe met while studying for their Masters of Brewing Science at the University of Nottingham. Emily flew across the Atlantic to take the course, while Joe grew up just down the road from the university! Now, they reside in London together, where they work as brewers. Between distance and COVID, planning their tented wedding in New Hampshire was a challenge—and we had to reschedule it several times! But these two were kind and patient through it all. We couldn’t be happier with how the day turned out!
Emily and Joe hosted their reception on the property of Emily’s childhood home in Deering, New Hampshire—where Emily’s sister also had hers! Our team transformed a Sperry tent into the elegant venue of their dreams. We arranged farm tables and bistro chairs throughout the space and topped each table with a cream linen runner. Meanwhile, centerpieces from Posies by Trim added a pop of color with pink daisies and soft orange carnations.
In addition, we brought in a customized bar with Emily and Joe’s names and their wedding date (their reception wouldn’t have been complete without plenty of ice-cold craft beer!). And, for their non-drinking guests, we created an infused water “bar” out of extra-large mason jars with golden spigots and copper trays.
If your family owns a beautiful property and you want to plan a tented wedding, you need a planner to work out the logistics! Our team specializes in backyard weddings and has years of experience with tenting. When our clients come to us, they often don’t know the first thing to do. But once we get to work, they can sit back and relax, knowing we’ll take care of every detail!
We consider location first when converting a backyard space into a reception venue. For example, Emily and Joe wanted their guests to enjoy the breathtaking sunset over the valley. So, we made sure to situate the head table at the back, which oriented all their guests in that direction. In addition, we need to locate a flat area for installing a dance floor. Sometimes this is impossible, and we need to install flooring over the entire space. But we got lucky with Emily and Joe! The tented area was completely flat, so we only needed to install a dance floor (this also saved them money!).
Installing a tent as large as theirs usually takes several hours. Fortunately, we were able to get a jump on this a few days before the wedding, thanks to the space being on private property! Then, on the day of, our team could focus all their attention on the finishing touches. We also installed a closed tent for the catering staff. It’s always important to consider what service tents you will need in addition to the tent you will use as your event space.
