Heather and Oliver’s backyard wedding in Vermont combined a modern, laidback style with a boho-chic neutral palette! The two split their time between Canada and Barbados. However, when it came to deciding where they would tie the knot, they chose Oliver’s family home in Shelburne Farms. With the property’s rolling hills, wildflowers, and panoramic views of Lake Champlain, it isn’t hard to see why. Our team was so grateful for the opportunity to plan their wedding at this stunning location!
Heather and Oliver chose our full-service planning package for their September wedding. Since they aren’t local to Vermont, this was the perfect option for them! We helped them build a team of local vendors that fit their budget and aesthetic and kept planning on track up through their special day. If you’re newly engaged and wondering how to work wedding planning into your busy lifestyle, our best advice is to hire a planner! We’ll take time to understand your taste and deliver an event custom-tailored to you, down to the smallest detail. More importantly, we’ll deal with every snafu behind the scenes so you can enjoy a stress-free engagement.
A backyard wedding in Vermont wouldn’t be complete without a tent, and we loved bringing Heather and Oliver’s reception vision to life! Our team thoughtfully designed each tablescape in the couple’s favorite neutral palette, which accented the natural surroundings perfectly. Soft beige linens from BBJ La Tavola draped over a mix of round and rectangular tables, while white taper candles added a sense of welcoming warmth.
Meanwhile, Birds of a Flower used their design expertise to imbue the space with a lush, garden-inspired feel! Organically arranged white flowers, with roses, dahlias, and cosmos in full bloom, softened the tablescapes. But our favorite detail was the greenery draped over the supports at the center of the tent, which we paired with white disco balls to create an atmosphere of fun and romance.
The sustainably sourced fare from Cloud 9 Caterers never disappoints, and we loved how the menu at this late summer wedding utilized seasonal produce. Guests enjoyed a first course of heirloom tomato salad, followed by a second course of local strip steak or sweet corn agnolotti. And who could forget dessert? A selection of peach and blueberry cobblers individually served in jars and topped with cream was the perfect sweet finish.
In addition, Heather and Oliver had a midnight snack from McDonald’s delivered as a treat for their tired guests! After hours of dancing to Silver Arrow Band, it was just what everyone needed to refuel and keep the party going.
This backyard wedding in Vermont was the laidback summer affair of our dreams! As you begin planning your New England wedding, we would love to hear about your vision. Get in touch today to let us know how we can help!
