Recently, I had the pleasure of collaborating with a photographer friend, Kate Preftakes, and a team of talented New England wedding vendors to create this French country-inspired styled shoot. Our venue was the stunning Lakefalls Lodge in Stoddard, New Hampshire. It really was the perfect setting, from the shimmering waters of the lake to the rustic architecture and stone-walled garden. As a wedding planner and designer, I relish these opportunities to let my craft shine. I hope the elegant details from this shoot inspire you!
Our inspiration for this shoot was the effortless elegance of the French countryside. We selected a base palette of blue and white and added pops of pink and peach. Emily Johnson of Tickled Ink Invitation & Paperie Studio created the perfect invitation suite to set the tone for the day! She produced the calligraphy on each piece of stationery by hand, using sky-blue ink on a white background. In addition, she created a custom wedding crest for the occasion with blue, pink, and green watercolor paints.
Meanwhile, Allyson Rand and Hannah Ashton of Clementina Floral Co. put their spin on the palette to create the bride’s bouquet and floral details for the tablescapes. They sourced everything from local flower farms for an authentic New England feel. The bride’s whimsical bouquet featured a combination of cosmos, strawflower, and phlox in shades of cream, coral, and blush. Then, on the tablescapes, pink dahlias took center stage! Foxglove, prairie gentian, and vibrant peonies filled out the loose, organic arrangements to invoke the feeling of strolling through the gardens of a country estate.
Events Delivered, provided the remaining design elements on the tablescapes. We used a variety of candles and vintage-style glassware in shades of blush, coral, and terracotta to create a “gathered” picnic-style effect. Blue-and-white plates with ruffled edges complemented the toile-patterned tablecloth on the second tablescape perfectly and exemplified playful elegance. Meanwhile, we aimed for a more relaxed, farm-style feel for the first and third tablescapes. We skipped tablecloths to let the patina of the bare wood shine and added cloches filled with flowers to preserve a sense of whimsy.
Of course, no wedding or styled shoot would be complete without dessert! Amy Christiansen of Eat More Cake created miniature cakes wrapped in toile-patterned fondant that corresponded beautifully with the second tablescape. In addition, she baked a stunning, four-tiered confection for the occasion with a cascade of frosted pink, green, and cream flowers. The robin’s-egg blue macarons and hand-lettered sugar cookies created by Graceful Baking were also incredible. With illustrations inspired by classic French motifs, they were the perfect finishing touch to the tablescapes and flat-lay photos.
I felt so honored to design this styled shoot at Lakefalls Lodge, and I’m delighted to share our feature in New Hampshire Bride. I can’t thank Kate Preftakes enough for capturing it all so beautifully! For more information on my planning services and Events Delivered, please reach out. I would love to get to know you!
