Nick and Niyati’s wedding at Overbrook House was any wedding planner’s dream—it even earned a feature on The Knot! The two fused Nick’s Italian background and Niyati’s Indian heritage to create a culture-filled wedding day that prominently featured the talents of their friends and family. From their handmade invitation suite to their bespoke outfits, every detail stood out in vibrant red, orange, and gold hues. It was a day to remember!
From the beginning of the planning process, Nick and Niyati involved their loved ones in creating their wedding vision. Niyati’s close friend, Alyson Zimmerman, designed the couple’s gorgeous heirloom invitation suite. She composed a design with dusty blue vines and orange lotus flower accents that wove seamlessly through each component. In addition, Niyati’s aunt is a fashion designer who custom-designed the couple’s wedding apparel! The two traveled to India to introduce her to Nick and didn’t see their finished outfits until two weeks before their wedding. The ornately patterned garments, in rich shades of gold and traditional bridal red, were a centerpiece of the day.
Moreover, Colleen Matthews—a family friend who has known Niyati since the two were just several days old—designed her and Nick’s wedding rings. And on the evening before the couple’s nuptials, every guest helped create the floral decorations for their ceremony! They strung hand-picked marigolds grown by the couple’s friends at Abundance Family Farm onto vines that hung from the birch mandap as the couple exchanged vows. It was the perfect way to infuse even more love into the occasion, and the finished product looked breathtaking!
Nick and Niyati’s wedding celebration at Overbrook House began with a traditional baraat procession honoring the groom. Nick and his guests danced up a hill toward the ceremony location, where they met Niyati and her guests and engaged in a dance-off! Then, it was time for the couple’s traditional Hindu ceremony, presided over by pandit Jayant Sayne. They exchanged traditional vows and translated each verse into English so all their guests could follow along.
At their reception, the couple continued to honor Niyati’s Indian heritage by naming each table after a town or city in India instead of using numbers. Their guests also enjoyed using a handpainted photobooth depicting the Taj Mahal between stints on the dance floor. And, of course, Sukhadia Caterers served delicious Indian cuisine that fueled the celebration!
This wedding at Overbrook House was so fun, and I loved all the handmade accents. Wedding planning is about remaining true to yourself, and Nick and Niyati exemplified that! Are you ready to plan your one-of-a-kind New England wedding? Let’s discuss your vision.
