A fall wedding at the Boston Public Library is timeless, elegant, and unmistakably Boston, and Lucy and Karim’s celebration embodied all of that and more. From meaningful cultural moments to iconic city settings, their wedding weekend was layered with intention, beauty, and connection.
Both Lucy and Karim are doctors based in St. Louis, so planning took place entirely from afar. The process was a true collaboration, supported closely by Lucy’s mom, Debbie, who helped keep everything moving smoothly on the ground. Debbie also happens to be a dear friend of a previous client’s mom, a reminder that the wedding world is often a web of meaningful connections. We are all connected, and this celebration felt like a perfect example of that.
The weekend began with a vibrant welcome party at More Than Words, a nonprofit bookstore in Boston with a warm, community-centered feel. Lucy and Karim arrived dressed in full Palestinian attire, setting the tone for an evening rooted in culture and celebration. Mediterranean food was served, speeches were shared, and the night quickly turned into a joyful dance party. It was a heartfelt and energetic way to welcome guests and kick off the weekend.
On the wedding day, Lucy and her people got ready at the Mandarin Oriental, Boston, a serene and elegant setting in the city. The team from Wedding Affairs was on site to take care of hair and makeup, ensuring everyone looked and felt their best before the day unfolded.
From there, a trolley transported the group to the Boston Public Garden for photos. With peak fall light and crisp air, it was a perfect afternoon for portraits among the changing leaves and iconic pathways. Afterward, the group headed to the Boston Public Library for more formal family photos, capturing timeless moments in one of the city’s most beautiful spaces.
Guests arrived for the ceremony at the Boston Public Library, where Lucy and Karim were married in the courtyard with the illuminated fountain glowing behind them. Karim’s uncle officiated the ceremony, making it deeply personal and meaningful. At the end, Lucy surprised Karim by delivering her vows in Arabic, a moment that was both emotional and unforgettable.
Following the ceremony, The Catered Affair served appetizers and drinks in the library’s café area. It’s a truly special space and always a favorite, making it a lovely transition between ceremony and reception.
Guests were then invited upstairs to Bates Hall for the reception. With its soaring ceilings, iconic green library lamps, and majestic architecture, Bates Hall is one of the most striking reception spaces in Boston. Dinner and speeches unfolded in this extraordinary setting before guests moved into the Abbey for dancing.
Music was provided by Murray Hill Talent, who kept the energy high and the dance floor packed until 1 a.m. It was one of those nights where the celebration never slowed, and guests danced the night away surrounded by history, music, and joy.
Working with Lucy, Karim, and their family over the planning process was a true pleasure. Despite the distance, the wedding came together seamlessly through trust, collaboration, and shared excitement. Their Boston Public Library wedding was not only beautiful in its setting but deeply meaningful in its moments, a celebration rooted in family, culture, and connection.
Lucy and Karim’s celebration came together beautifully thanks to a talented and collaborative vendor team. We were so grateful to work alongside the following professionals, each of whom played an important role in bringing this meaningful wedding weekend to life.
