Devan and James got married on a beautiful day in August, on the lawn of Devan’s parents’ summer home. When the couple got engaged, they knew that her parent’s home would be the perfect location for their summer affair. The home has a waterfront view of Newfound Lake, one of the most picturesque lakes in New England. The design was meticulous. From the silverware to the stitching on the napkins, we worked to account for every detail.
When selecting a color palette, they chose a muted rainbow filled with pastels and a touch of burgundy. Devan’s bouquet was beautiful and had anemones, garden roses, and handpicked blooms tied together with a silk ribbon. They chose to carry the colors into the paper, which included hand-painted envelope liners. Similarly, Devan’s stunning wedding gown had a modern floral print and a classic silhouette.
Their ceremony took place on the lawn overlooking the lake. Notably, everyone got to be a flower person for the ceremony, and they each had a cone to decorate the aisle prior to the couple coming down. It was such a fun touch! Equality is so important to this couple, so when James walked down the aisle, guests were asked to stand for him as well because the two believe that everything they do as a couple, they should do equally.
Devan and James wanted everything to be of the highest quality and paid attention to every detail! We worked with them to create an elegant tented backyard reception that allowed the beautiful lake view to be the focal point. They decided to place two sailcloth tents on the lawn, one for dinner, the other for dancing. They love the feel of wood, so they chose wooden farm tables and wooden chairs for the seating. The weight of the silverware was important to them, as were the napkins. Their hemstitch napkins were starched and ironed so that every single guest could enjoy the highest quality. They chose white plates that felt handmade and had an artisan quality to them. Altogether, the lovely texture of the wooden tables and lush flowers married the entire design together. Birds Of A Feather’s used heirloom tomatoes to complement the florals and add a unique touch.
