Sibel and Andy share New England roots and a love of mountains and skiing—they bonded over the latter when they first met! Sibel first visited the Mount Washington Resort as a young girl, and decided “I want to get married here.” So, when Andy proposed, both knew exactly where they would say their vows.
The Mount Washington Resort is a stately and elegant venue nestled in the hills of the White Mountain National Forest. It is a beautiful place to marry, known for its incredible food and breathtaking mountain views. There was no more perfect place for this mountain-loving couple to commit to one another!
Sibel and Andy love hiking, running, and all things outdoors. Accordingly, for their wedding, we worked together to design an elegant affair that would place an emphasis on their shared passion. The first glimpse guests received into Sibel and Andy’s fall wedding were their wooden invitations. The two passed on traditional paper in favor of hand-carved wood, which was a unique touch.
Sibel is such a joyful person, and the color palette she chose matched her vibrant smile perfectly! She wanted her flowers to display a late summer/early fall palette. This comprised shades of orange, blush, honey, and fresh berries, as well as a splash of indigo. For the ceremony, The Fuschia Peony crafted an incredible display, which included a circular arch and some thoughtfully arranged fall pumpkins. Large sunflowers and daises adorned the arch to tie together the shades of soft orange and gold.
The couple chose to have a first look, which took place on the resort’s South Veranda. This columned patio overlooks the forest, visually combining the splendor of both the resort and nature. It provided the most stunning backdrop for the bride and groom’s first glimpse of one another.
Their ceremony took place on The Jewell Terrace, which is located on the roof of the resort. As it directly faces Mount Washington, it provides the most picturesque view of the grounds! The expansive views at this venue are truly one of a kind, leaving guests in awe. Sibel and Andy wanted to tie Andy’s Turkish heritage into their ceremony, and their day as a whole. To accomplish this, Nazar amulets were present throughout their day, including one which hung from their ceremony arch. This amulet resembling an eye is meant to guard one against the evil eye, and is traditionally part of Turkish wedding celebrations.
The theme of mountain details carried through into Sibel and Andy’s reception. Each table was named after a mountain the two have climbed together, and this made for such a special touch. Since they wanted their reception to feel grand and classic, they chose to have it in the resort’s Grand Ballroom, which boasts panoramic mountain views. The high ceilings and regal columns of the room were traditional in their grandeur, while the colorful flowers chosen by the couple introduced a touch of whimsy.
We loved designing a wedding for Sibel and Andy which was rife with meaningful details, without lacking elegance. If you are planning a wedding here in New England, let us know about your vision so that we can help you bring it into reality! When you plan with us, no detail will go overlooked.
