Ali and Gretchen’s wedding in the White Mountains of New Hampshire was on a picturesque private estate—the same place where Ali’s parents and sister were married! Several years ago, I planned Ali’s sister Linday’s wedding here. It was then I had the pleasure of meeting Ali and her partner Gretchen! They are such a fun couple who love the outdoors. I’m so glad I could plan their wedding in this little slice of paradise!

Getting Ready for a Wedding in the White Mountains

The home where Ali and Gretchen exchanged vows is significant to them in many ways. Not only is it where Ali’s family has traditionally had their weddings, but the couple spent time living there! Although the cabin does not have heat, the two lived there for an entire winter amid the romantic, snowy landscape. Now, they reside on the outskirts of Burlington, VT, where they enjoy outdoor activities and playing sports together.

Each spent the morning of the wedding being active with their closest friends! While Gretchen embarked on a mountain biking excursion with her friends, Ali went for a jog with hers. Then, it was back to the cabin to get ready for the day.  Ali slipped into a simple crepe gown with a blouson bodice and wore colorful zinnias in her upswept hair. Meanwhile, Gretchen donned a silky v-neck jumpsuit with a pair of ivory boots and a flower crown adorned with pink ribbon. They looked stunning and perfectly whimsical for the outdoor setting!

Barn Reception on a Private Estate

The couple’s reception inside the barn featured a sage, burgundy, and pink color scheme with accents of tangerine. We went for a romantic atmosphere, with candles on each table and plenty of colorful florals by Dutch Bloemen Winkel. The arrangements gave the space an organic feel, while vintage glassware and a Mason jar chandelier contributed rustic charm. Sage linens by BBJ La Tavola finished the look with a pop of color and tied everything together.

Before entering the reception space, the couple’s guests enjoyed cocktail hour outside on the lawn. The weather was gorgeous that day, and friends and family enjoyed exploring the grounds while catching up and enjoying appetizers from Susanna’s. The cabin also features a wraparound porch with an adjacent flower garden. It was the perfect gathering space for loved ones!

This wedding in the White Mountains was dreamy from start to finish. I’m so glad I could be a part of it and work with Ali and her family again!
