It was a pleasure to provide full planning for Laura and Jeff’s summer garden wedding in Vermont. Their day was colorful and romantic, with plenty of whimsical details befitting the private garden setting. From the custom-designed watercolor invitations by El’s Cards to the yellow cake covered in intricate sugar flowers by Henny B Cakes, every detail came together beautifully. Getting Ready at The Inn at Burklyn

Laura and Jeff’s wedding day began at The Inn at Burklyn, where the couple readied themselves with their wedding parties in separate suites. Laura’s grandmother helped her put on her Oscar de la Renta ballgown, which was a perfect match for the garden wedding theme. Flower petal appliqués gathered at the top of the sweetheart neckline and gracefully trailed over the bodice and skirt. Meanwhile, the bride wore her late mother’s engagement ring on her right hand. The gold band featured a trio of diamond and aquamarine stones for a touch of “something blue.”

Jeff’s attire featured the wedding date embroidered on his jacket collar and shirt cuffs for another personal touch. When he and Laura were ready, they met beside the garden fountain for a first look! Kate Preftakes captured the moment beautifully, then shot portraits of the couple on film that exuded vintage charm. Soon, the couple’s bridal parties joined them, attired in black tuxes and lavender satin gowns. Laura’s bridesmaids carried monochromatic blue, pink, purple, and yellow flowers that complemented Laura’s colorful bouquet. Birds of a Flower filled the arrangements with garden-inspired blooms, including peonies, Japanese anemones, lilacs, and sweet peas.

Private Garden Wedding in Vermont

The couple hosted their tented reception on private property overlooking the breathtaking mountains of northeastern Vermont. A rattan escort card display greeted their guests and directed them to their seats with custom-painted watercolor escort cards. The cards featured garden-inspired scenes, including fruit, honey pots, and rolling green hills. Meanwhile, various rattan pendants hung from the tent’s ceiling, accompanied by swags of greenery.

On each tablescape, an eyelet lace tablecloth formed the base of the design for a romantic touch. Colorful flowers composed the centerpieces, while golden candlesticks and woven rattan chargers channeled a vintage garden party. Each place card and table number was custom-painted to cohere perfectly with the escort cards and invitation suite. Moreover, each guest received a miniature honey pot at their table setting as a token of the couple’s appreciation.
